Charleston Children's Boutique

Being a Mom today is all about practicality and affordability.  Those are the things that are valuable for me as a mom, so that’s what Charleston Children’s Boutique provides for the community.  I haven’t always owned Charleston Children’s Boutique.  I had been shopping there since it was founded in 2004, and always loved what they offered.  In December of 2009, I went to the store one day to find it was going out of business.  I immediately thought, “This store can’t close!”  Charleston Children’s Boutique was our only store this side of town for high end classic children’s clothes, toys, and gifts.  I knew it had so much potential to become a resource for every mom in town the same way it had for me.  At that time, I had a 5 year old and a 3 year old.  As a busy working mom, I saw an opportunity to bring other mom’s what I had always wanted in a children’s store. On January 24, 2010, I took over as owner of Charleston Children’s Boutique. There was no inventory, no detailed plan, and no suppliers.  All I knew was that it was important to me to not have too many toys and gifts that were manufactured overseas, and to bring practical, affordable and multi-useful items that were valuable for me as a mom.  That’s what I wanted to bring to the community.  

Another hurdle in my way was that I had been working full time in healthcare for the past 10 years while raising my children.  I didn’t have an ounce of retail experience!  I’ve learned that experience isn’t always what matters the most.  I immediately sat down at the computer and started searching for suppliers and manufacturers of high end, practical, and yet affordable products and placing orders.  I needed product on the shelves!  Within a few weeks, the store was stocked and the customers started flooding in.  Over the past year, it has grown to be the store it is today.

Charleston Children’s Boutique has become extremely involved in the local community.  We focus on providing American made and locally made products from Summerville, Charleston, Beaufort and beyond.  Our goal is to do our part to build up the local Charleston economy while providing valuable and practical products for our local mothers.  We fulfill our goal by selling local products, advertising locally, partnering with local non-profits and fundraisers and loving every mother that walks through our doors.  We look forward to seeing you soon and helping bring you classic, timeless, traditional mother must haves!
